I had a Döner for One (actually a dürum, but that's beside the point) and was happy to assist an old lady in line before me.

Basically all I did was translate difficult words like "pommesketchupmayoschaaf" into their German equivalents. I also seem to have managed to pace my speech in such as way as she understood. Together we were then able to order her lunch.
