If there are languages that you can speak and understand but are literate in, then this is a hack for reading and writing those. I also use it for Japanese although it's trickier to read and write kanji this way. (I have forgotten how to read & write kana. 😭)

Google Translate shows IPA transliteration for all the source languages I have tried except English and Spanish. The source language panel supports text-to-speech, so I can "read" stuff simply by playing it back.
