Dear Lazy #Linux Circle,
Could someone enumerate some of the non-contrived use cases for using the PAM module pam_env in today's world? Ideally in small Linux setups and in enterprise installation contexts? I was blissfully unaware until today someone could use PAM to control environment variables.
Namely, why does this exist when /etc/profile and systemd environment management also exist? Is there a flow chart about when to use what mechanism? Is this being attached to PAM vestigial?
