OK, y'all are pissing me off with this defeatest attitude that we can't trust any technology. You are wrong.
We can't trust corporate technology. Things like Discord, Slack, Google, Reddit, Amazon... and any other closed source, corporate, profit driven IoT junk. Hard agree.
But there are IoT devices that are trustworthy. Things that are open source hardware and software, run by volunteers who just want awesome tech to be out there and are not driven by profit, but just want to make to break even.
Here are three concrete examples:
- Ruuvi tag temperatire/humidity sensors
- HestiaPi thermostats

There are many more. So don't whine about corporate overlords. Kick them to the curb. Rally around these truly open solutions instead.
Lets support and promote the future we want to see. Whether it's spreading the word, donating coins, submitting patches, bug reports, documentation, helping new users or contributing in some other aay. Be the change you want to see in the world.
