It really depends on what definition of ‘AI’ one uses, which is why I picked ‘Neutral’ this time.
Generative AI? Pretty much universally bad. Facial recognition tech used for surveillance? Also bad.
But a lot of useful features that are based on machine learning models, such as selecting text in images, pointing your camera at a sign and have it translate it for you, transcripts for audio that are actually good, various computer vision and hearing features that are great for accessibility, etc.? Good, even great.
But all of it gets swept up into a single container vaguely labeled ‘AI’, nowadays 😒
