It was a Wikipedia minor comment.
The "colonial" remark refers to the endless Everest nonsense, the extravagant rich parties paying locals to do the dirty work of hauling lavish gear. Of the record-making crap of first climb, fastest climb, etc. of the mindset of "conquering" and "beating" mountains and notable natural stuff.
Don't know how you'd expand that into thinking I sweep ordinary hiking and climbing into that, never mind native folk doing things in traditional lands, the latter acts so far out of my knowledge and experience I would have essentially zero opinion even if you asked me. The latter is none of my business and the polar opposite I would think of colonial acts.
