I remember being told that the USSR was unsustainable, because they wasted a lot of resources to hit arbitrary bullshit targets, while they poisoned their environment and mismanaged their commons.

I mean, true, but also, all of that seems to apply to another system.

You can't tell me a system which produces more than twice as many clothes as all of humanity needs is not full of bullshit waste.

Especially when there's people struggling to get at clothing while that goes on.
