When I was teaching my wife programming, we started with a "real" IDE right away. Namely, vscode.
Vim and emacs aren't an option because of the entry level. Special IDEs for teaching like Eric or Spyder don't have that level of autocomplete, linters integration, and tyoe inference (and so showing documentation on mouse hover). Vscode has it, and so it takes care of teaching what functions you have and what code style you should use.
