On ۱۲ بهمن ۱۳۵۷, Imam Khomeini returned to Iran after ۱۴ years of exile from France and was welcomed by nearly three million Iranians in Tehran. This day is officially marked as the beginning of the 10th day of the Iranian calendar, known as the 'Imam's Return' or 'Fajr Decade'. Abdolmajiid Ma'adi Khah, the Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, first referred to the period from Imam Khomeini's return to Iran until ۲۲ بهمن as the 'Fajr Decade' in ۱۳۶۰, ten days after the Imam's return to Iran.
