Really interesting discussion at the #4CultureBarcamp: Whatever CC BY or similar license you’re attaching to your digital #CulturalHeritage reproduction is most probably making an unjustified legal claim. Because CC BY+ are based on copyright, but a faithful reproduction of a public domain work does not constitute a copyrightable work. So PD Mark would actually be the correct thing to do.
