While EEs do design their hardware and software systems to be resilient, most coders never took up that century-old, well-established concept.

That said, Sussman wrote a book on resilient software design, based of course on Scheme. He couched the concept as "flexibility", but much of what is discussed applies equally to "resilience". But Sussman is an MIT electrical engineering professor, so....
