The temperature graphs look weird too. I change the velocity (and ring diameter to maintain the same magnetic field) but everything else stays the same. There seems to be a sweet spot where the instabilities are much slower.
Periodic temperature fluctuations presumably mean some nonlinear aspect of the beam velocity distribution is oscillating (I subtract off the linear dependencies before calculating the temperature).
