The question is misframed because God is known apophatically. It's not inherently something that's defined by its positive attributes that you can identify either with him or someone else. God isn't a being. Even attributing "existence" to something like God is nebulous because it's above the dialectic of real and imaginary, both come from it. God is the Prime Mover, as Aristotle put it.
The debate is really about whether God (or whatever you want to call it) has any sovereign intellect or personhood (probably not because you run into paradoxes very quickly.)
