I shared this clip in a discord server for a HEMA club I go to, one of many schools that I hop around in my city. This particular club is probably the most nerdiest among them (I don't mean this in a derogatory way because I consider myself a nerd too) and while they do spar, the club members here often bemoan the "sportification" of HEMA. As a result of this culture, the school has zero fighters representing them at any tournament. Again I'm not trying to be mean, but they are also the least physically fit and overweight out of any HEMA club I go to.
So anyways, when I posted this video of Jocko Willink on some podcast to inspire fitness in this club, one of the instructors expressed their disagreement about the message in this snippet. I really think they are coping with the classic excuse of not working out because "I just can't find the motivation" and that motivation is still important. I'm rather disappointed ngl
