Although I've rejected a lot of the standard left tradition, one part I haven't rejected is "the workers should own (or at least control) the workplace". Even without figuring out how price and cost should work, farm laborers would get a much better deal if worker = owner, shareholder in whatever profit is produced if profit is a part of the economic system, etc.
