I tried switching from mouse to trackball many years ago. It just moved the RSI to a different location.
Shaweetz is right about the "short" keyboard (I would call it "narrow"). No numeric pad. That brings my mouse arm in a lot closer to my body and reduced my shoulder RSI.
I've tried a bunch of vertical mice. It seems to vary by the individual. For me, the only one that works is the 3M Vertical Mouse. They don't make them anymore, which blows chunks. Mine just broke.
