I did have a possum problem for a few years. I'd cover the strawberries with shadecloth laid directly over at night, and wrapped shadecloth around the tomato plants at night. They'd eat a few oranges and a few mandarins, but I could spare them. Otherwise they left most other things alone. It was a pain tho, as I had to wrap and unwrap the tomats and strawbs each day.
The last couple of years there have been fewer problems, but I hear a couple of possums on the roof sometimes. They do eat the grapes - I can kiss them goodbye.
I net the small fruit trees to keep off birds and possums. But the loquat tree is huge and the parrots get most of them, just in a couple of days. That's ok, I am not a huge fan of the fruit, I eat my fill and they have the rest. 😆
