That strikes me as a very slippery slope. By that rationale, why not falsify data in cases where you didn’t have the same privileged (multimillion $$) access to collect it? Or entries on a CV? Is one justified to fabricated everything if they’ve experience exclusion? If some lies are OK but not others, how does one decide which ones are ethically alright?
