Proud dad moment:
My grandfather had a stroke before I was born and passed away when I was 9. I'm the oldest of 4 grandkids and the only one who has memories of him. Both mine and my wife's parents are septuagenarian so even with good healthcare access the chances that they will live to see my children's teenage years is slim.
For the past four months my toddler has been able to wake up and play with a healthy grandparent each day! I never had this opportunity when I was a kid (my wife fortunately did!) and it has not been easy to facilitate considering we live 1000s of miles from either set of grandparent.
If you have the opportunity to do this for your parents and your kids, I couldn't encourage it enough. Both seem like they are living their best life and that couldn't make me happier!
Memory is one of our most important human qualities and I believe this kind of generational connection develops and strengthens it.
