Yes I think I was getting confused with a multiverse. I listened to Sean Carroll explain the many worlds, and now I’m even more confused.

He explains how the many-worlds interpretation could possibly not lead to infinite regression, though he doesn’t dismiss infinity by any means.

According to Carroll, there are 5000 events of atomic nuclei decay happening in my body every second. This means my single body is creating 2^5000 worlds every second. That only accounts for my body, and not to mention all the other human bodies and events of nuclei decay happening all over the universe.

So if I’m understanding correctly, everything that could possibly happen is happening simultaneously with every action in the universe. And not only that, but it’s happening in the same physical space!

The math may be simpler and more practical for use, but we are trading a difficult equation (pilot-wave) for an incoherent reality (many-worlds).
