If your building a new kind of nostr app then pick a new kind of event. even if you change it in the future its not a big deal since there aren't any users yet and you don't have to worry about migrating data
For example I built https://github.com/hzrd149/cherry-tree a while back and used the kind 2001 since no one else was using it

I have a feeling most new devs default to kind 1 since they can easily debug it. or they are experienced nostr devs use kind 1 for "discoverability" ( so it shows up in the social feed ). either way I think the only solution to this laziness is to track down the dev and make them use their own app till they realize how bad the UX is
