I'm giving up on tiling wm for the KDE pill. I tire of doing janky shit to get basic features working; KDE just werks and isn't as bloated as you'd think. My TUI autism has also been worn down by needing shit working quickly and predictably. My solution to the GUI problem is partial resignation. Only problem is I miss autotiling like in dwm, which I used for many years to the point of muscle memory. Also love and miss opening programs, easy workspace switching and managing windows all with keyboard hotkeys.
Tbh the perfect Linux desktop would be a tiling wm but everything is polished and all the basics work without bullshit (i.e. combing through conf files in nano, not having to manually set the qm up to auto-suspend on laptop close). If Cosmic DE winds up being KDE with first class tiling support it'll be the GOAT DE. Either that or someone turns hyprland into a DE.
