In September 2024, the proposed so-called "Generals' Plan" to institute a complete siege on northern Gaza and to declare anyone who continues to refuse to evacuate as an enemy combatant was introduced in a closed session of the Israeli Knesset Foreign Affairs Committee. You can read about that plan here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Israeli_generals%27_plan
The Netanyahu administration faced a choice: Comply with the American administration's demands or continue to institute the generals' plan on northern Gaza.
The evidence strongly supports the idea that they made the latter decision.
Will the Americans' threats finally have teeth, given that there is virtually no plausible deniability that their demands have not been met?
We'll see.
Obviously things are complicated by the incoming Trump administration. But even a temporary halt in weapons by the Biden administration could send a strong message that could encourage other Western countries to follow suit.
Netanyahu is betting that Biden is not going to follow through.
