TikTok is seriously creepy.

Over the last few years, I've watched heaps of TikTok videos by following links sent to me or clicking on links on websites.

Today, TikTok refused to play a video and instead presented a popup that said I need to login to watch the video. I thought "Haha, they're trying to force me to make an account," and closed the tab.

At the same time, TikTok emailed me a numerical code to confirm my new account.
WTF?
I've never tried to create a TikTok account.
I've never given TikTok my email address.
