NOSTR sits on the verge of a new internet.
I came 7 months ago because of an excellent Documentary video by Max DeMarco (npub1lel…kvyz)
I was coming from Medium, X, facebook; my backpack was replete with duplicate profiles and content and worse of all, as a new writer, there was zero hope for compensation.
Then I came to NOSTR and had my honeymoon phase. I was like, what the hell? Why aren't there more people on this!
I thought (and still do feel) that I had found a secret to the universe!
Then came the bitcoin talk...
Not a problem, I genuinely like learning more about BTC and would like to see the world that it promises to bring about.
The problem arises when users start to pander to the bitcoin talk in search of the zaps.
That's when the facade starts to chip a little as you realize that, in fact, there is an algorithm in Nostr, the most natural of all algorithms of human interaction and that is the search for value as quick as possible and with as little effort as is possible.
It can be depressing when you see it unfolding before you, but that's still not to say there is something inherently wrong with the protocol.
There are some real gems of content in here and there's plenty of genuine people.
-Long rant just to say, Nostr has its ups and downs, but its worth spending your time and effort here.
