I've seen a few examples of quotes within toots recently and can't figure out how that's done - does anyone know?

Searching just brings up discussions of "quote toots" which isn't what I'm talking about, I mean a quote within a toot that shows in a different colour with a vertical bar to the left. Markdown syntax would be to start with > but that doesn't appear to work.
