Over the past 20 years, Western finance has moved away from its primary purpose of supplying investment capital to productive activities. With a few exceptions, it now involves trading instruments at ever higher prices back and forth between parties, while corporate executives and vulture funds drain the value of the underlying assets, all the while encumbering them with ever increasing amounts of debt. As a result, most large Western corporations have become shiny shells encasing a rotten core.

To counter the situation, small private or family-owned companies should be encouraged to flourish, but are instead being suffocated from a lack of funding and excessive regulation. Some might argue that this is being done on purpose in order to preserve the current order.
