Yes, transgender people have ALWAYS existed, since the dawn of time, although I doubt there were ever more than 0.5% representation as there is now. Going back to ancient history and up into modern history in some places, there were always eunuchs, the Scythian Enaree priests, the Hijra caste in India, and many others. It's from the same root.
