雛ドール ✵☽ (npub1c5u…n87m) Tangent not related to Babylon: The Aramaic alphabet comes from Phoenician, which appears to come from the Proto-Sinaitic script, which itself appears to derive from Egyptian hieroglyphs. If that's true, it means that Chinese characters are one of the few writing systems that don't ultimately descend from Egyptian.
But the Old Uyghur script is rotated 90° to read top to bottom, like Chinese characters, making it a cool example of East meeting West.
