One thing that Gnome really has going for it vs. KDE is 2-in1 functionality. E.g., KDE severely lacks competent virtual keyboards whereas Gnome provides a virtual keyboard out of the box (albeit not a good one). KDE on X doesn't even support virtual keyboards whatsoever.
