Had something to do with some weird Chinese cultural bullshit where a 30 year old unmarried woman is assumed to have something wrong with her, creating a Boomer-style "Can't get a job without work experience" trap. Should be able to google "china leftover women" to get more details. Might be complete bullshit, who knows.
