Just read an article about how modern #tech and #privacy are incompatible (link below).
The author points out the things people can do to claw back some of their privacy, but then concludes it's too much effort.
To that I say: I am PERSONALLY working on making it less effort. Buy a #smart #thermostat, put it on your #wifi (or not, it's up to you) and never wonder if it's sending data off somewhere else.
Sure, some people can't afford a #HestiaPi. Sure, it doesn't solve the problems of cars, GMail, phones, smart washing machines and all the other junky #IoT devices.
But for anyone who was going to buy a wifi connected thermostat anyway, it helps. We can take these problems on one at a time. And we can build better tech. As long as people are willing to buy these types of #OpenSource #hardware, I'll keep making them. ✊🏼
