Maybe the reason why no time travelers have come back to kill Hitler is that no one cares about Hitler in the future. Maybe time travel is controlled by billionaires who don't really care about Hitler one way or the other. Billionaires are probably perfectly happy with the trajectory of history as it stands if they're still in charge when time travel becomes possible. No need to try to improve things and accidentally screw everything up.

Except humans are selfish and stupid, so someone would try it. So the preponderance of evidence suggests that either time travel doesn't work that way or it isn't possible.
