But there are only so many hours in a day, so many days in a season. One could not make everything desired, but possibly everything one needed.
Eventually, one wanted to have extra, to cover for when one was ill, or what grew or was raised didn't grow or survive.
When excess was achieved, it could be traded with another for what was lacking that the other may have.
Then came those who did not want to work...
