If you are NOT 25 years old, then the maximum heart rate (HRmax) formula of `220 - age` is not accurate.
This paper[1] suggests the following formula instead: `211 - 0.64 * age`.
A 40yo should have a calculated HRmax of 185.4bpm instead of 180bpm.
So if you are younger than 25 you should assume a lower HRmax, if you are older you have a higher HRmax than previously assumed.
