What I really want is a shell command like watch, but rather than just showing the value of a command over time, it accumulates the value up to a specific window, on a specific cadence, and then spits that out over time.
Imagine if something like ps wwwaux | grep pattern | wc -l could be visualized as a time series trivially by gnuplot.
