listening to an audiobook with your ears and reading a book with your eyes are two different things, physically and cognitively.
also enabled by different media formats, one which demands focus and the other which allows for multitasking (e.g. doing dishes, driving, running, etc.)
if you say you read a book i assume it to mean you used your eyes. if you did not, say you listened to a book.
they're completely different activities, and saying you "read" an audio recording is confusing.
