Partially based on the positioning of list related announcements in VoiceOver output, but primarily on the VoiceOver experience on the web being a steaming pile of bear shit that shows few signs of more fundamental fixes.
Users are sick of Apple only ever making tiny updates to the shape of that pile, rather than cleaning it up. So, I suppose we can at least agree that this issue is given an unnecessarily inflated level of importance by everyone involved.
