Throughout the 1960s, Hurn documented the evolving cultural landscape of the United Kingdom, as traditional values of restraint gave way to new movements emphasizing freedom and self-expression.

In his photographs of the Isle of Wight festivals, Hurn captures the unique counterculture and spirit of the era, where an estimated 6–700,000 people gathered to celebrate the power of music and togetherness.
