(2) asking students to reflect on what learning is, what they think they are learning, why they think they are in college, and — per the OP — what they think is going to happen if they successfully cheat their way through an assignment (which I assure them is possible) to get a grade that •nobody• will ever care about and still can't think their way out of a paper bag.
Pretty sure from reactions that some chunk of them have never considered these questions.
