for somebody like Zelensky the goal is not to win - but to keep the war going forever or as long as he is getting Billions of dollars from America and can hide some of it towards his retirement in Israel while also having elections permanently suspended in Ukraine ...
and for Putin the goal is also not to "win" but to keep NATO from creeping closer to Russia, while also remaining popular at home ... quite likely Putin also wants the war to last forever because if the war ends it will open certain subjects up for debate and maybe Putin doesn't want those subjects debated ...
but with Trump winning the "forever" aspect of the war ( which all 3 sides ( Putin, Zelya and Biden ) probably would have preferred ) started crumbling and suddenly we are getting glimpses of what fighting to win would look like as opposed to fighting to prolong the stalemate ...
