i think Bluesky is more or less officially the new Twitter. i don't have an opinion on whether that's good or bad. i'm not sure i would have wanted Mastodon to be the next Twitter, necessarily. however, it's pretty clear that Mastodon had a moment when it could have been a widely-adopted social media platform, and it missed that moment.
