actually doing things in linux isnt a problem, constantly babysitting it breaking the most absolute basic functionality of a desktop is. i have other machines i *could* be putting linux on, but the entire point was to be able to move away from windows as my desktop os. i would be absolutely astounded if i plugged in any off the shelf TP-Link pcie network card and windows *didn't* immediately recognize it and have it working just fine. frankly "the network adapter you're using is old just go buy another one" is a pretty shit reason when the entire linux community still supports the most ancient and decrepit hardware and software whenever possible
