California governor added $1.2B for 3 big power plants to be on standby mode for the next 3 years. This was a last second addition to his annual budget. They don't get run except for emergency situations. It's taking these power plants out of the existing market, sending market products prices through the roof, then adding these units as standby and putting those costs on California tax payers. So customers paying twice, with no improvement in system. The only reason we have this problem in the first place is state law mandating technologies that don't provide power when people want power.
