A lot of this doesn't seem to be sustainable or even useful to the population.

An exercise I've done is ask "how far back in time could I go and still do what I do now" and the answer was about 15-20 years. Except for the powerful phones, it's mostly still the same (and I can see an alternate universe where the phones are more useful).
