one of the weirder things about existing in a male-dominated society is that i read any story about what it means to be a man, manhood, etc as thematically being what it means to be an adult, so i easily identify with protagonists of coming-of-age tales that tell about a boy who grows up to be a man that's responsible for stuff. but stories about girls who become women who are responsible for stuff are relegated to niche genre hell. find out more in the feature film based on the hit memoir "
