I’m thinking about setting up my own masto instance, but not sure what to expect. Are there any good guides for the moderately technologically savvy?

for folk that run their own instances would love to hear thoughts on what’s the monthly overhead/cost like?
How much time gets spent managing spam, blocklists, shitty behavior?

I’m not planning to open it up, just a few folk initially.
Also I love my current instance zirk.us but exploring ways to be digitally self sufficient
