Unpopular opinion: Websites are like "here's some header text" and browsers are like "I WILL VOLUNTARILY KEEP GIVING YOU BACK THIS TEXT UNTIL THE END OF TIME", and somehow everyone decided this was the websites being bad.
(Seriously, install the Cookie Autodelete plugin. Keeps doing normal cookie behavior per-site for the lifetime of the tab, but then clears the data when you close the tab. You can define exceptions to this for sites you want, of course.)
