I understand why Meta bootstrapped Threads with its Instagram graph. Billions of users is appealing. But it turns out that people who are popular on Instagram posting selfies are just tedious when they have to write, and building a new social network almost entirely around influencers and brands might be fun for the sorts of users who mostly want to reply to celebrities, but for the rest of us, it's a dreary experience.
