As the Observer's staff prepare to strike to halt the sale of the site to the Tortoise group, it seems clear from a memo seen but the FT, that even if the same doesn't go through, the continuance of the Observer in its current form is unlikely.
The Sunday paper is not covered by similar guarantees the protect its daily parent the Guardian, and so restructuring one way or the other seems clear...
In the end it may come down to who the journos think they can trust more!
